Brooks creates surreal, somewhat etherial landscapes constructed from various elements:
Using a self-created process involving materials such as graphite, mylar and resin, tape, colored pencil, and ink, his work evokes feelings of desolation through haunted, dreamlike visions of otherworldly terrains. Ancient trees, decaying flora, and icy mountains obscure long forgotten places and objects, at once familiar and unrecognizable, creating a space for rumination that challenges the relationship to their meaning.
These images have a three dimensional quality to them giving the impression that one would walk into the dreamy landscapes.
I particularly like the small works that Brooks creates on the inside of found metal containers.
