Something I’m working on (possibly more later).

Actually I have no idea what I’m doing with this or where it’s going. Like most of my painted personal work, I tend to make it up as I go along. Inspired by House Industries Eames Century Modern Poster Numerals (man, that’s a mouthful) I had the idea of doing something with a single Eames numeral and this is what came out. I don’t know why I chose the two over say,a three or a five. I guess I was attracted to its voluptuousness.

Unlike my print work which is created with an inherent crispness to it; an element of precision, when I resort to painting I inevitably work in a more random and unpredictable manner, often giving a more distressed look to the piece. In a way, using paint is almost a liberating experience. Apart from having the initial idea I tend to follow the tangential directions that run through my head at any given moment. This isn’t always a good thing though as that method of working is by no means an exact science and whatever the final outcome the finished piece often disappoints. But I’ll stick with this, donating time to it as and when I can. It might take me a while to finalise this or it may actually never see completion. Either way it’s going to be an adventure.
