KAWS (real name Brian Donelly) is an American artist and designer.

His work includes often repeated cast figurative characters and motifs, some dating back to the beginning of his career in the 1990s, are realised from his original 2D paintings into, often massive £D sculptures.

Having spent his early career working for Disney, it is clear to see how the animation powerhouse has influenced KAWS’s work over the years. Some of his characters are his own creations while others are reworked versions of existing icons.

KAWS sculptures range in size from a few inches to ten meters tall, and are made from various materials including fibreglass, aluminium, wood and bronze.

In 2020, at the hight of the Covid 19 pandemic, KAWS teamed with Acute Art to create an Augmenter Reality exhibition.
