art by Sam Lock

Sam Lock is an abstract painter from Brighton and currently works out of Chartwell Road Studios near Lancing, East Sussex.

Sam recently had a solo show at Cadogan Contemporary in London. On their web site, the gallery described his working methods:

(Sam) Lock paints viscerally. Using blowtorches and electric sanders as well as the brush, he ages and wears his canvasses down, making them seem all the more natural. At its core, his work conveys the passage of time; colours, movement and characters that are half-recalled, uncertain.

Sam has exhibited in the UK, USA and the Netherlands.
